ARTIST:  WILLIAM SLAUGHTER

24 X 18 ORG. OIL

Slaughter was born in San Antonio in 1923. As a self taught artist he spent his childhood exploring and sketching the Texas countryside. He works in a broad range of subject matter, but his glorious landscapes blanketed in bluebonnets is his trade mark. Early in his career, he was called to the ministry and served as an Lutheran Pastor to the english speaking congregation in Mexico City. Returned to Dallas in 1964 to the Kings of Glory Lutheran Church and began exhibiting his paintings through The Artists & Craftsmen Assoc. Of Dallas. In the late 60’s and early 70’s he claimed many first place and best of show awards. He has works in such collections as The Dr. Pepper Co., Baylor Medical Center, Texas Credit Union, Mr. and Ms. Roger Staubach, The Honorable and Ms. Dolph Brisco, Mr. and Ms. Jimmy Connors. Rev. Slaughter is very generous with his time and talent, donating to many worthwhile charities. He has been featured in Southwest Art, Texas Home & Connoisseur Magazine’s Southwest Gallery has represented Mr. Slaughter’s work for over 25 years.
